History

In order to coincide with the preparation for the World Exposition in Aichi in 2005, this program was inaugurated in 2000, to promote international exchange through the art of Seto’s traditionally famous pottery and glasswork.
In order to support the program, the Ceramics and Glass Art Center was inaugurated a year earlier, in 1999, to provide artists and craftsmen with necessary equipment and facilities for training and production.

From 2000 to 2005, Seto City has administrated the program as “Artist-in-Residence in SETO.” In 2006, the program was renewed as “SETO International Ceramic and Glass Art Exchange Program,” and the administration has been succeeded over by the Seto City Cultural Promotion Foundation.
