1. ABOUT US

The Center for Global Partnership (CGP) was established within the Japan Foundation in April 1991 to promote collaboration between the people of Japan, the United States, and beyond to address issues of global concern.

Both the United States and Japan, through their interdependence, play an important role in international politics and the world economy. However, the people and institutions of both countries must go a step further to create a stronger partnership at the global level, to strengthen the stability of our world, and to promote the welfare of human beings.

CGP provides funding for collaborative projects conducted by the people of the U.S., Japan, and beyond on global issues, in addition to issues common to advanced industrial societies, as well as other issues pertaining to U.S.-Japan relations.

2. MISSION

  1. (1)To promote collaboration between Japan and the United States with the goal of fulfilling shared global responsibilities and contributing to improvements in the world’s welfare.
  2. (2)To enhance dialogue and exchange between Japanese and U.S. citizens on a wide range of issues, thereby improving bilateral relations.

3. PROGRAM AREAS

To carry out our mission of “Contributing to the world through bilateral U.S.-Japan cooperation” and “Closer U.S. Japan relations,” CGP offers:

  • Grant programs to support collaborative projects,
  • Volunteer support and fellowship programs to advance research and nurture future leaders,
  • Surveys, seminars, workshops, and other activities to exchange information, create new networks and nurture future leaders in the U.S. and Japan.
