NPO Fellowship

Overview

The NPO Fellowship supports field-based training in the United States for professionals committed to social change through the activities of a Japanese nonprofit organization. The program seeks to build long-lasting relationships between fellows and their counterparts in the United States, fostering information exchange between the nonprofit sectors in both countries and global perspectives on the role of civil society in addressing pressing social issues. It is particularly focused on nurturing nonprofit leaders who have the ability to bring new ideas to Japan’s nonprofit sector and lead future collaborative efforts between the United States and Japan. This program, which started in 1998, will discontinue in 2007.

Objectives

  • To nurture future leaders who will serve as bridges between the United States and Japan.
  • To strengthen networks and promote mutual understanding between the nonprofit sectors in both countries.
  • To strengthen nonprofit sector in Japan.

Eligibility

  • Mid-career NPO staff in Japan with a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience and a good understanding of the nonprofit sector.
