The Japan Foundation carries out all types of arts exchange programs in its endeavors to deepen mutual understanding between Japan and other countries of the world. Emphasis is placed on the introduction of the traditional and contemporary arts of Japan overseas and the introduction of overseas arts in Japan.
The Japan Foundation sponsors its own exhibitions through cooperation with galleries and museums both at home and abroad and provides aid for outstanding exhibitions to introduce Japanese art and culture.
The Japan Foundation sponsors or extends aid to exhibitions of superior art and culture from
abroad that are unlikely to be shown in Japan.
In order for effective international exchange in the field of art, the Japan Foundation promotes exchange among curators and collect/disseminate art information.
Through Yokohama Triennale, a major international art exhibit held once every three years, the Japan Foundation promotes exchange in the field of the newest contemporary art.
