RAKUGO – Japanese Yose-Style Vaudeville in Australia

The Japan Foundation will dispatch three yose comic theater vaudevillians
to Australia. Not only classic rakugo humorous talk, audience will
also enjoy stage arts unique to the yose theater, including the paper
cutout and funny music played by carpenters tool of saw.
Three performers
from the Raguko Artists Association of Japan, Sanshotei Sharaku (rakugo
talk), Miyakoya Utaroku (“saw music”), and Hayashiya Imamaru
(paper cutting) will visit Sydney, Canberra, and Melbourne. They will
perform in English or with English subtitles.
