The Japan Foundation invites drama specialists from abroad to host international symposia in International Festival OKINAWA for Young Audience 2008 July 19 - 27 in Okinawa. Panelists will talk about how performing arts can play a role in solving urgent and challenging problems that the world faces.
International Symposium I
The current state and challenges of theatrical companies for children and young people - expose children to theater
Advanced countries face various challenges concerning children. On the other hand, some countries and areas are trying to establish their identities, while influenced by superpowers. Youth drama specialists will discuss current problems based on the status report.
International Symposium II
What can art do to stop child abuse and domestic violence - from a woman's point of view
Child abuse and domestic violence are serious problems in many countries in the world. Female performing artists talk about their work and its challenges, and identify what performing arts can do.
International Symposium III
Potentiality and challenges for international co-production of theater
Quite a few of good theater for children and young people are co-produced internationally. Performing artists from the world, already successful in international co-production, will discuss potentiality and challenges.
