“Garibaba’s Strange World” in Indonesia
The Japan Foundation, together with Pappa TARAHUMARA and Kelola Foundation (Indonesia), organizes collaborative performing arts project titled “Garibaba’s Strange World” in Indonesia.
Inspired by Gulliver’s Travells’ writer Jonathan Swift’s life, this project is led by Mr. KOIKE Hiroshi (writer, choreographer and director) with two performers from Pappa TARAHUMARA and more than 10 Indonesian performers including dancers, Indonesian traditional Gamelan music players and shadow puppeteers. Creative staffs like composers, set designers and costume designers are also invited to the project from both countries.
The project started with Pappa TARAHUMARA’s performance “Three Sisters” in Jakarta, 18th -19th April. Then, all participating artists and staff joined in Solo, Indonesian historic city, to work for this project for more than a month.
“Garibaba’s Strange World” will be performed in Yogyakarta and Jakarta as below.
