DD SYNTHESIS
During fiscal 1999, it has been decided to extend an invitation to Japan
to the folk-music group DD Synthesis from the former Yugoslav Republic
of Macedonia and carry out a performance tour in seven venues in Japan.

Harvey Lichtenstein is the chariman of the board of directors at the
Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) in New York City. The Japan Foundation
has extended him an invitation to visit Japan from March 25 to April

"Lear" A Theatre Production by the Japan Foundation Asia Center
Asia Center, in collaboration with a top level staff and cast assembled
from the six countries of Southeast Asia, produced a new work titled "Lear,"
which made its debut in Japan in 1997. The production subsequently toured
Hong Kong, Singapore, Jakarta, and Perth (Australia) from Jan. 1999.
