The "Asia Center Lecture Series" for the third quarter of fiscal 1996 will be held from the middle of January through March. The following is a list of the themes and the lecturers for the entire series. Please refer to it for further information.

 

MONDAY
"Getting to Know Nepal"
A total of 10 sessions given every Monday from January 20 to March 24, 1997.Lecturers: Hiroshi Ishii (Professor of Tokyo University of Foreign Languages), Katsuhiko Kano (Professor of Kanazawa University), Yumiko Tanaka (Specialist on international cooperation among international cooperation project groups), Katsuo Nawa (Graduate School of the University of Tokyo)

"Savouring Korea and Its Literature"
A total of 10 sessions given every Tuesday from January 21 to April 1, 1997 (no lecture on February 11 [Japanese national holiday]) Lecturer: Toshikatsu Saegusa (Professor of Tokyo University of Foreign Languages)

"Getting to Know Vietnam"

"The Society and People of Bangkok"

FRIDAY
"Asia's Theravada Buddhism"
A total of 10 sessions given every Friday from January 17 to March 28, 1997 (no lecture on February 28 [U.S. national holiday]) Lecturers: Masaki Onozawa (Professor of Tsukuba University), Hiroshi Komai (Professor of Tsukuba University), Katsumi Tamura (Assistant Professor of the National Museum of Ethnology), Egaku Maeda (Professor of Aichi Gakuin University), Miwa Takahashi (Graduate School of Tsukuba University)

 

Dates and Time: Janaury through April 1997, one session every week for each lecture series, continuous for three months, 19:00 to 20:30 Venue: Lecture Room of the Japan Foundation Asia Center Participation Fee: 10,000 Yen for each lecture series (price for the entire semester)
