While the Asia Center is holding a film festival in honor of the major Philippine filmmaker Lino Brocka, the Japan Foundation Manila Office is holding the first Japanese film festival since its opening. The festival will be held March 5-23, and it will introduce Japanese films of the 1980s and 1990s that take as their themes the various aspects of "love." A total of thirteen films will be screened, including "THE STING OF DEATH," which was directed by Kohei Oguri who gained worldwide fame with his "SLEEPING MAN." Kenji Iwamoto (professor of the literature department of Waseda University) will also give a lecture during the festival.

 

Films to be Screened:
13 films including Kazuki Omori's "YOUNG GIRLS IN LOVE"; Kinji Fukasaku's "FALL GUY"; and Jun Ichikawa's "TSUGUMI"
