"Ten Years after 9.11: What Have We Gained and What Have We Lost?"
The ALFP 2011 fellows will be engaging in a discussion with Prof. Isezaki Kenji of the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. Prof. Isezaki will talk about how the world, especially Asia, has changed a decade after 9.11 and the destabilized future of South Asia.

"Contemporary Literature and Performing Arts in Okinawa"
The ALFP 2011 fellows will visit Okinawa and explore the above theme deeply through dialogue with Okinawa-base leading figures in various fields. As a part of the studying tour, the Japan Foundation organizes a symposium by inviting a writer Sadatoshi Oshiro who represents contemporary literature scene in Okinawa, a producer Ryoshu Koki who has been leading cultural and art movement in Okinawa, and Prof. Katsunori Yamazato who specializes in American literature and Okinawa-literature as lecturers.
