International Symposium “Fostering Peace through Cultural Initiatives – Perspectives from Japan and Germany ”
The Japan Foundation and the Goethe-Institut are delighted to host a public symposium for redefining the role of cultural initiatives with a co-organizer, the Mainichi Newspapers, and with the cooperation of Aoyama Gakuin University Joint Research Institute for International Peace and Culture. This symposium will present past project examples that were conducted in post-conflict or post-disaster areas, re-evaluate the role of cultural initiatives for fostering peace, and discuss possible future pictures of the projects. Discussions will include what roles cultural initiatives should play, what types of projects are needed in order for these projects to have the maximum impact, and what challenges and points for consideration we have. We welcome anyone who is interested in this topic to participate in this event.
