The International Speech Contest in Japanese

The Japan Foundation hosts The Fifty-Third International Speech Contest in Japanese in cooperation with International Education Center and Beppu City, Oita Prefecture. Entries for the contest are now being accepted (for application).
The International Speech Contest in Japanese had been held in Tokyo until the thirty-eighth contest, and thereafter took place in Gifu City, Fukuoka City, Nagasaki City, Joetsu City, Osaka City, Sapporo City, Kochi City, Yonago City, Shimonoseki City, Izumisano City, Kawagoe City, Hakodate City, Niigata City and Machida City. This year the contest will be held in Beppu City. Approximately 10 to 12 winners of the preliminaries participate in the final annually, making a profound speech on a wide range of themes (For archives of the Fifty-Second Internationally Speech Contest in Japanese).
This contest is open to all with admission free.
(The contest is scheduled to be broadcast on NHK Educational Television.)
