The International Speech Contest in Japanese
Result Announcement!
The Japan Foundation hosted The Fifty-Third International Speech Contest in Japanese on June 2 (Sat.), 2012 in cooperation with International Education Center and Beppu City, Oita Prefecture to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Japan Foundation. (The outline is described below)
12 winners from 11 countries in preliminary, chosen out of 117 applicants from 22 countries/regions, made interesting speeches on what they think and how they feel through their daily life in Japan and exchanges with Japanese people.
Recipients of respective awards are as follows
This is a part of the commemorative project to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Japan Foundation's establishment.

The contest was broadcast on NHK Educational Television from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00.p.m on July 14 (Japan Standard Time).
In overseas, the contest is broadcast on NHK World Premium, TV Japan, and JSTV. On NHK World Premium, it is scheduled to be broadcast from 0:25 a.m. to 1:24 a.m. on July 28 (JST). On TV Japan and JSTV, it will be broadcast on different date and time.

Ms. Maria Carolina Gamba Yoshida, the 11th speaker, has taught Japanese in a Japanese-language school in Sao Paulo.
She was also a participant of the Long-Term Training Program for Foreign Teachers of the Japanese-Language held at the Japan Foundation Japanese-Language Institute, Urawa in 2007.
