International Forum
"Towards an East Asia Community: Beyond Cross-Cultural Diversity"
Inter-cultural, Inter-societal, Inter-faith Dialogue

The Japan Foundation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Waseda University Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, is planning to organize an International Forum in Tokyo in mid-December 2007 under the Japan–East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) Programme.

The forum, which is formatted like a retreat, will be convened to discuss common issues and concerns in East Asia, through which a network among young Asian intellectuals and professionals such as journalists, social workers, scholars, artists, NGO workers, administrative officers, and business people is expected to be built.Apart from the general participants, we will invite six experts to be coordinators for the forum, who will give lectures and moderate the public symposium to be held at the end of the whole program. We hope the forum will contribute to the creation of an East Asia Community in the future through cross-cultural dialogue among the participants.
