Q How was the Japanese-Language program?

A

My Japanese got better and better doing things like learning Osaka Dialect and the language of Japanese youth and talking with other participants in Japanese everyday.

I also enjoyed Japanese culture classes such as calligraphy, flower arrangement, Aikido, and tea ceremony very much. In our trips to Kyoto, Hiroshima, and Tokyo, I observed and learned various things, and now I understand Japan better.

This study program is really important for students like us who are learning Japanese outside of Japan. Talking with others in Japanese made me realize my Japanese proficiency level, and because of this now I feel like learning Japanese more.

Thanks to this program, I experienced a lot of things for the first time in my life. For example, I ate Japanese food and got on trains and Shinkansen for the first time.

I had various experiences and made friends with other participants from various countries. These have become very good memories of mine. All the staff at the institute were always very kind and pleased to help us.

Q How was your life in Japan?

A

The life in Japan was very convenient. In Japan the citizens always keep time, which is different to my country. And, whenever I saw the traffic system and the well maintained system of stations, I always thought of my country and wanted it to become like Japan.

It was my first overseas traveling, but I am really satisfied with my stay in Japan. And, Japanese people were so kind-hearted that they always helped me whenever I was in trouble. Though Japan is different from our countries in its culture and customs, you will feel it is more convenient to live in Japan then in your country once you start living there.

While in Japan I got the opportunities to learn a lot of new things about Japan. And these two weeks were very enjoyable to me as I experienced various pleasant things and learned about Japanese culture and customs.

Q Advice for future participants, please.

A

Please gather some information related not only to Japan but also to your country in advance. If possible, bring some photographs, too. They will be useful when you talk about your country with your homestay family as well as the other students.

In this program, you will make a lot of friends from various countries. If possible, please bring small-small traditional things which you can present to them.

Kansai Center has a very good food provision in the cafeteria. But if you are a vegetarian, it is advisable to bring some dry eatables with you because it is very difficult to get vegetarian food always when you go out for a study-trip.
