The Japan Foundation presents lectures with demonstrations on robotic technology, given by robot creator Tomotaka Takahashi in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates. In response to a growing interest in Japan's technology in the Middle East, this program takes place in the cities of Jeddah, Riyadh, Doha, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai for a wide range of local participants from students to general public.

Tomotaka Takahashi

Photo of Tomotaka Takahashi Founder and CEO of Robo Garage, Project Associate Professor of The University of Tokyo, Visiting Professor of Fukuyama University and Osaka Electro-Communication University. Engages himself in humanoid robot creation throughout; from research, development, and design to manufacture. Takahashi’s masterpieces include Ropid, Chroino, FT, Evolta, Tachikoma, and Vision. Conducted a lecture demonstration in Russia (Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk) in June 2012, and garnered a great review. 

Awards: TIME magazine ‘Coolest Inventions 2004’, Popular Science magazine ‘33 persons changing the future’, Guinness world record of long distance remote controlled robot car, and RoboCup world champion for five consecutive years from 2004-2008
