WHAT’ S A “Tenugui”?
Tenugui (te=hand, nugui= wipe) are Japanese towels.
These towels are made of 100% cotton. They are not only used for wiping your hands, they also have a number of other traditional uses and applications, for example, as a sunbreak during work in the fields and for traditional Japanese arts and sports.

HISTORY OF “Tenugui”
However, in the Edo Period (1603-1867AD), the cotton industry became widespread and KABUKI players used Tenugui with unique designs, such as KAMON (a crest). These fashionable Tenugui designs attracted the attention of the public.

“Tenugui” NOW!
Tenugui can be arranged freely, such as for wrapping, as a clothing accessory, and for folding things. Also, Tenugui are very kind for the environment because they can be used over and over again. Today, people have an increasing interest in Tenugui as green goods.
In addition, Tenugui are popular with foreign tourists as souvenirs because people make use of them in their own ways; there have been a lot of people using Tenugui for interior design and fashion, recently.

How about trying to find your own way to use Tenugui?

Let’s enjoy the “Tenugui” life!!
