Questions about Operation
Q3: My computer has speakers and the software is set to play back sound, but I can't get the explanation to play back.
A3: Check to be sure you have QuickTime Version 4 installed. (Version 3 cannot play back sound.)
If it is not installed, then install it using the installer supplied on the CD-ROM.

Q4: Even though I click on vocabulary words, the sound won't play back.
A4: If the vocabulary items are in Series I (Clothing, Food, Shelter, and Associated Items Series) or Series V (Daily Life), then please see answer A3 above.
The vocabulary items in Series II (Community Life), Series III (Nature and Leisure Time), and Series IV (Social and Ceremonial Occasions) do not have any associated sounds. This is the way the system is designed.

Q5: The sound that plays back is the sound for the explanation even when the commentary is being displayed.
A5: The commentary does not have any sound associated with it, so what you are experiencing is normal operation.

Q6: When the kana keyboard image is displaying during the Japanese keyword search function, no sound is played back when I click on (fa) or other such kana combinations.
A6: This is the way the system is designed. The buttons forEimg src="e_jrs_02_syousai/image/moji_che.gif" width="29" height="19" align="absmiddle">(che), (di), (fa), (fi), and(fo) (all of them sounds that did not originally exist in the Japanese language) and the buttons for alphabetic characters will not produce any sounds when clicked. Instead, clicking on any of these will immediately change the display to the list of keywords.

Q7: The color does not display well, and the photograph looks like a negative image. The icons are also fuzzy.
A7: Please check to see whether the color resolution for the computer monitor is set to less than 256 colors. This needs to be set at 256 colors or more for the images to display properly (especially in Windows).
For Windows, please set the resolution at 16-bit or higher, and for the Macintosh, set it at 32,000 colors or higher.
