| 2. "Kyôkasho o Tsukurô" as a
Model of Composing Teaching Materials |
| Our aims in compiling "Kyôkasho o Tsukurô" are
both to provide a collection of resources and to demonstrate a model of composing
teaching materials. We believe that it is important to keep in mind step-by-step
learning, the establishment of goals for learning, and giving the learners a feeling
of accomplishment when creating textbooks and teaching materials. "Kyôkasho
o Tsukurô" is therefore put together in the following way as a model for
teaching materials that specifically illustrate the above. Both 'Setsumei-hen(Grammar
Notes)' and 'Renshû-hen(Activity Book)' are put together in the same way. |

| (1) About the Blocks |
|
Each Block is a unit of teaching content, and there are twenty Blocks in all.
The Blocks are numbered 1 through 20, and the numbers indicate the cumulative
order and levels of learning.
|
 |
 |
| (2) About the Topics |
 |
Each Block corresponds to a Topic which concerns
the learners' everyday surroundings and which has been created with the lives
of overseas learners in mind. The Topics move progressively farther away from
the learners' surroundings: "Home
School Town
My Country and Japan," with each block corresponding to the expanding scope of
discussion. 1 This progression of "Home
School Town
My Country and Japan" is repeated five times in the twenty blocks, and each
group of four indicates one of the five levels of instruction. |
|
 |
(3) The Arrangement of the 84 Grammar Items
The 132 Items are distributed among the 20 Blocks, bearing in mind both the degree
of difficulty and the linguistic activities connected with the Topics. |
