Public Symposium “Global Carbon Reduction: Developing New Strategies and Deploying New Technologies in Japan and the United States”

The Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership and the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation are pleased to invite you to a symposium entitled “Global Carbon Reduction: Developing New Strategies and Deploying New Technologies in Japan and the United States.”

The symposium will feature former participants from the CGP Abe Fellowships and the Mike Mansfield Fellowships, Japanese government leaders, corporate executives, and scholars, who will discuss ways to increase the use of environmentally friendly energy resources and take advantage of cost-effective technologies – some in existence and others under development. Participants will also address policy considerations as Japan and the United States take leadership roles in engaging the Asia-Pacific region on global climate and energy issues.  With Japan and the United States sharing a common interest in protecting the global environment, this symposium will explore how the climate-energy issue is not necessarily a series of insoluble problems but instead presents a number of opportunities.
