Strengthening Cultural Exchange in Asia
The Japan Foundation Asia Center aims to foster awareness of empathy and coexistence as neighbors who live together among the residents of Asia through exchange and collaboration. To that end, it implements projects in diverse fields, such as arts and culture, sports, Japanese-language education and academic exchange.

1 (1). "NIHONGO Partners" Program
This program dispatches "NIHONGO Partners" to secondary educational institutions in Asia, mainly in 10 ASEAN countries in order to support local Japanese language teachers and students. The "NIHONGO Partners" will support not only educational activities by local Japanese teachers, but also aim to spread the charms of the Japanese language and cultures through their learning support and cultural activities inside and outside the classroom.

1 (2). NIHONGO Partners in collaboration with Japanese Universities
This Program dispatches student interns as NIHONGO Partners in collaboration with Japanese universities to support local Japanese language teachers and students at institutions of higher education in Asia, primarily in 10 ASEAN countries. Interns will support not only the educational activities of the local Japanese language teachers and students, but also aiming to deepen communications and understandings between local people and Japanese.

2. Grant Program for Enhancing People-to-People Exchange
This program is designed to expand the bases for exchange and to promote understanding and friendship among the people in Japan and other Asian countries, particularly ASEAN countries. Grants will be provided to successful exchange projects at grassroots and regional levels.

3. Grant Program for Promotion of Cultural Collaboration
This program is designed to generate new cultures together within Asia. Grants are provided to successful collaborative projects conducted by organizations and professionals in Japan and ASEAN countries.

4. The Asia Center Fellowship Program
This fellowship program is designed to encourage joint or cooperative projects that cross national cultural borders among individuals in a wide variety of fields. The fellowships will be offered to successful individuals who plan to pursue their research and activities outside their home countries, and who seek to develop further in their field(s).
