Official Website

Born in Tokyo, Japan, Yuko Suzuki graduated from the Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo in 1990. She pursued her graduate studies at the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford, where she met Professor Luiz de Moura Castro, a Brazilian pianist whose influence inspired her to specialize in performing Brazilian classical music. She received a Master of Music degree in 1992 and an Artist Diploma in 1993.

During a stay in Paris from 1993 to 1996, Suzuki launched her performing career while studying musicology at the Sorbonne, where she obtained her Maitrise de Musique in 1996. She also studied under Anna Stella Schic, a pupil of renowned Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos.

In 2000 Suzuki gave commemorative recitals for the five hundredth anniversary of Brazil at the Brazilian Embassy (Salle Villa-Lobos) in Paris, the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Recital Hall, and the Museu da Republica, as well as the Museu Nacional de Belas Artes in Rio de Janeiro.

In September 2002, she was awarded the rank of Cavaleiro in the Order of Rio Branco by the government of Brazil.
