Announcement from the Abe Fellowship Program

The Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership (CGP) has been co-organizing the Abe Fellowship Program with the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) since 1991. Interest rates in Japan have remained low for a prolonged period of time, and as a result, the financial situation of CGP, which is funded by the investment return of the endowment, has become progressively more challenging over the past 30 years, making it extremely difficult to maintain the program on its current scale and in its current format. Therefore, CGP and SSRC will no longer be accepting new applications. Please see the following joint announcement.

The Japan Foundation would like to continue to develop key individuals who can contribute to the global Japan-U.S. partnership in this new era, and in consultation with experts in Japan and the U.S., will consider the future scale and format of a new program.
