(2)Acrobat Reader/PDF files
Some pages on this site use PDF files. PDF format files require the special Acrobat Reader software. This software can be downloaded free of charge from the Adobe Systems website accessed via the button on the left.
If your computer does not read Japanese, please also download the Asian Font Packs for Acrobat Reader in order to properly display the content.
(3) JavaScript and CSS (style sheet)

Basic thinking on privacy
The Japan Foundation collects information on people who use this site within the scope necessary to ensure the smooth operation of services provided through the site (the supply of information via the website, distribution of the e-mail magazine, reception of opinions, etc.). The collected information is handled appropriately within the scope of the purpose of use.

an individual, the Japan Foundation saves, uses, and analyzes this information
within the scope of its activities. Furthermore, the Japan Foundation
can use collected information and materials that can identify an individual
according to relevant clauses in these regulations. (For example, Internet
domain names, IP addresses, cookies, information
on perusal of this site, etc.) |

| (b) | When using the "new information e-mail service," we
request you to register your e-mail address. Registration for the "new
information e-mail service" can be cancelled at any time if so
desired by the registered person. It is also possible to change or revise
information by deleting old information and registering new information. |

| (c) | Information given in e-mail forms for such matters as
applications for participation in publicity events and questionnaires
is collected. When using an e-mail form, you are requested to complete
the necessary items, such as name, e-mail address, address, and telephone
number, in order to facilitate contact and confirmation of identity. |

at the user's end, the sender's e-mail address is shown at the receiving

| (a) | Information collected as described in (1)(a) is used
as reference to facilitate the operation of services provided on this

| (b) | The e-mail addresses collected as described in (1)(b)
are used for distribution of the e-mail
magazine. Information about users that is registered voluntarily
is used as reference in production of the e-mail magazine. |

| (c) | Personal details of users collected as described in (1)(c)
are used as reference when contacting a person and confirming his/her
identity. |

| (d) | The "opinions and impressions" collected as
described in (1)(d) are used as reference in drafting future policy.
They might also be used as reference material for contents production. The e-mail addresses and telephone numbers that users enter voluntarily might be used so that we can contact the user. Regarding personal details of users, etc. that are registered
voluntarily, this information is used as reference for "opinions
and impressions." Depending on the content of the "opinions
and impressions," this information might be forwarded to the
relevant department together with the submitted opinion or impression.
In the case of a matter that is outside our jurisdiction, it might
also be forwarded to a relevant administrative organization of the
central government. |

| (3) | Restrictions on use and supply | ||
| (a) | The Japan Foundation will not intentionally reveal information
collected from users than can identify an individual to a third party. However, this excludes the following three exceptional cases: |

| — | If, with the supply of information, the consent of the supplier is obtained especially for revealing the information to a third party. | ||
| — | If, when the processing of information collected by the Japan Foundation is consigned to an outside business, etc., information is revealed within the scope necessary for the performance of the said work. | ||
Security
The Japan Foundation adopts rational measures to prevent the accidental disclosure of collected information to a third party. Please understand, however, that the security measures taken by the Japan Foundation do not guarantee complete security regarding the leakage of information that can identify individual users, etc.
*Cookies
Cookies are data files sent from a website to a user's computer. They enable the website to read from the user's computer when the user visits the site again.
Some pages on this site use the cookies function to save the user the trouble of inputting details every time, collect history information on pages visited by the user, etc.
