Enhancement of Japanese Studies Network

JF aims to contribute to the development and furthering of Japanese studies overseas by interconnecting and networking researchers, intellectuals and related institutions involved in the field.

Hosted/Co-hosted Events

With the goal of advancing scholarship of Japanese studies through a strengthened network of specialists and researchers, JF hosts international conferences, joint workshops and other platforms on Japanese studies that facilitate dialogue across organizational and national boundaries. Grant Program for Enhancement of Japanese Studies Network

This program provides grants for Japan-related conferences and other networking activities by overseas associations or academic societies of Japanese studies.

Programs for Strengthening Research Networks to Co-create a Future with the Next Generation [WA2.0]

On the occasion of the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation (2023), JF will implement intensively over the next 10 years the “Partnership to Co-create a Future with the Next Generation: WA Project 2.0”, a comprehensive people-to-people exchange initiative that aims to promote exchange among the next generation and develop human resources in Japan and ASEAN. As part of this WA Project 2.0, JF will provide support to Japanese studies associations to form and strengthen research networks in Southeast Asia.

Japanese Studies Surveys

JF conducts surveys of the overall status of overseas Japanese studies to discern current trends, formulate mid- to long-term policies, and develop appropriate support for promoting Japanese studies in each country and region.
