Starting from 2014, the Japan Foundation Asia Center and Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) present the showcase of Asian films“CROSSCUT ASIA.” This special booklet made for our second showcase, which was focused on Philippine films, contains a conversation between director Hideo Nakata (Ring), who studied Filipino films at university, and TIFF Programming Director Kenji Ishizaka, a travel essay written by Nameko Shinsan, a special interview with Brillante Ma Mendoza, and other articles that convey attractions of the country.
