Community Exchange

In order to be an Institute open to the community

Every year, the Japan Foundation Japanese-Language Institute, Kansai welcomes a great number of program participants from around the world to learn the Japanese language and to learn about how to teach Japanese.
With the cooperation of local governments and international exchange organizations, the Institute conducts a variety of programs such as private home visits, regional school visits, cultural facility visits and so on, so that the training participants can deepen their understanding of Japanese culture and society.
In particular, Fureai Koryu Matsuri (the International Friendship Festival) hosted by the Participants Support Council and held at the Institute once a year, attracts a great number of people, many events such as booths set up by support council member groups introducing Japanese culture, and those set up by program participants that introduce their respective countries. It has become an ideal place for the participants and local residents to interact directly.
Senshu, where the Kansai Institute is located, is an area with a long tradition and a rich culture of lifestyle. By interacting with local residents, we hope that the program participants come in to direct contact with Japanese culture and society and that this will expand into greater interaction between Senshu and the world.
