Japanese-Language-Teachers Training Program to Accept Foreign Nationals (Teaching Methods)

This program is a five-week onsite training program for teachers of the Japanese language at overseas organizations that provide Japanese-language education for those who come to Japan on the working visa: Specified Skilled Worker, etc. The aim of the program is for the participants to improve their teaching skills and to deepen their knowledge on Japanese affairs, society, and culture.

Duration

  1. Session 1 (NC-FN-MT-1): August 11, 2026 (Tue.) to September 15, 2026 (Tue.) (tentative)
  2. Session 2 (NC-FN-MT-2): November 10, 2026 (Tue.) to December 15, 2026 (Tue.) (tentative)

Eligibility

Institution and organizations in countries listed below, that provide Japanese-language education to people who are expected to reside and work in Japan by working visa: Specified Skilled Worker, etc. Applications from individuals will not be accepted.

  • Qualified Areas: Mongolia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan
  • Participants must satisfy the following conditions, in addition to “Eligibility [Common to All Courses]”.
  1. (1) Individuals with 1 or more years of experience in teaching Japanese language (Higher priority will be given to applicants aged 55 or under).
  2. (2) Individuals who have a proficiency in Japanese of Level N3 or higher in the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), Level 2 or higher in the old JLPT, or their equivalent. Level B1 or higher in the JF Standard for Japanese-Language Education (JFS), or their equivalent.

Description of the Program

<Japanese-language teaching methodologies>
By learning how to teach "IRODORI: Japanese for Life in Japan", a Japanese-language textbook developed by JFJLI, Urawa, participants will study a task-accomplishment approach to teaching to deepen their understanding of how to teach the basic Japanese necessary for living and working in Japan.
<Understanding Japanese affairs, society and culture>
Participants will consider methods that utilize class as a way to study the affairs, society and culture of Japan that are useful for life and work in the country.
