WA Project Special Training Program for Teachers of the Japanese Language

This program is designed to provide teachers of the Japanese language primarily at schools accepting NIHONGO Partners project in the target countries with an opportunity to improve their Japanese-language skills and deepen their knowledge of Japan. The training course will be conducted for approximately four weeks.

Eligibility

  • Educational organizations that offer Japanese-language education in Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, the Philippines, Brunei, Viet Nam, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, India. Applications from individuals will not be accepted.
  • Participants must satisfy the following conditions, in addition to those conditions described in “Eligibility [Common to All Courses]”.
  1. (1) Individuals who teach Japanese language at overseas educational organization in countries listed below.
    Nationality: Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, the Philippines, Brunei, Viet Nam, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, and India
  2. (2) Individuals with 1 or more years of experience in teaching Japanese language (Higher priority will be given to applicants aged 55 or under).
  3. (3) Individuals who have a proficiency in Japanese of Level N3 or N4 in the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), Level 3 or 2 in the old JLPT, or their equivalent. Level B1 or A2 in the JF Standard for Japanese-Language Education (JFS), or their equivalent.

Description of the Program

<Japanese Language>
Participants will take classes that aim, through various language activities, to improve their proficiency in using the Japanese language.
<Japanese Culture / Japanese Society>
Participants will have exposure to Japanese culture and society in real situations that will deepen their understanding of the Japanese language and culture. (Field trips and cultural programs are also planned). Participants will obtain cross-cultural understanding ability through interaction with their classmates.
