Eligibility
Our organization has a parent organization in Japan. Can we receive support for activities conducted overseas?
To be eligible to apply, the applicant must be an organization located outside of Japan. Even if the organization has a parent organization in Japan, it may apply provided that the applicant organization itself is located overseas.
Our organization was established only recently. Are we eligible to apply?
Yes. There are no restrictions based on the number of years since the organization was established.
What kinds of projects are considered to be for commercial activities?
Whether a project is considered a commercial activity will be determined comprehensively based on the project description, budget plan, and other information provided in the application documents.
Application Process
How should we complete sections of the application if some details have not yet been decided?
If there are many undecided items in the application, this may affect the screening process. If any details are not yet determined, please explain the relevant content, the reasons, the current status, and the expected schedule for making a decision in the application.
If one organization applies for multiple projects, do we need to submit “A Application Form,” “B Overview of the Applying Institution,” and “C Bank Account Information” for each project?
As a general rule, only one copy of “A Application Form,” “B Overview of the Applying Institution,” and “C Bank Account Information” is required. However, if the bank account for receiving the grant differs by project, please submit a separate “C Bank Account Information” form for each project.
We would like to apply for six projects. What should we do?
One organization may apply for a maximum of five projects. Applications for six or more projects will not be accepted.
What should we do if there are changes to the project after submission of the application?
The screening process is conducted based on the information provided at the time of application. Therefore, as a general rule, changes made after submission cannot be reflected in the screening process. However, if a significant change occurs, such as cancellation of the project, please contact us promptly. Please note that if changes are made after the grant has been approved, the prescribed procedures for project changes will be required.
Grant Details
Are shipping costs and customs duties for purchasing teaching materials from abroad eligible for support?
Shipping costs are eligible only if they have been included in the budget at the time of application. Shipping costs that were not budgeted in the application are not eligible. In addition, import customs clearance fees, customs duties, and similar charges are not eligible for support.
How should we choose a bookstore in Japan when applying for a Teaching Material Purchase Grant?
The applicant organization should select a bookstore that carries the teaching materials it wishes to purchase and offers international shipping. The following websites may be of use in searching for and procuring teaching materials:

Screening Results
When and how will we be notified of the screening results?
Applicants will be notified of the results by an e-mail sent to the representative of the applicant organization. Please refer to the Application Instructions for the notification schedule.
