The Japan Foundation (JF) provides opportunities for people around the world to better understand Japan through visual media. Our activities include screening Japanese films, streaming Japanese visual content and broadcasting Japanese television programs in countries all over the world.
Japanese Film Screenings Overseas
The Japan Foundation provides Japanese films with foreign-language subtitles to support the cultural activities of its overseas offices and Japanese embassies.
We also organize screenings of Japanese films, as well as lectures by directors and film critics, in collaboration with international film festivals and prominent film institutions overseas.

Japanese Film Festival (JFF)
The Japanese Film Festival (JFF) is a film festival organized by the Japan Foundation, bringing a variety of Japanese films to audiences all over the world.
Since JFF started in 2016, it has expanded to more than 100 cities in 19 countries, attracting a cumulative audience of over 900,000 people as of July 2025

JFF Theater
JFF Theater is a global streaming platform that offers Japanese films and video content with multilingual subtitles, free to watch anytime. JFF Theater provides audiences around the world with diverse opportunities to experience Japanese culture through films and videos.

Professional Development and Networking Initiative for ASEAN-Japan Film Programmers and Curators
This program focuses on the exchange of professionals involved in film curation and programming. It is part of the comprehensive project "Partnership to Co-create a Future with the Next Generation: WA Project 2.0," which aims to foster exchange and human resource development among the next generation in Japan and ASEAN countries.

Japanese TV Broadcasting Abroad
The Japan Foundation offers various Japanese television programs (TV series animations, documentaries, and feature films) to TV stations overseas with a view to introducing Japanese culture and society.

Japanese Film Database
The A Japanese Film Database is jointly operated by the Japan Foundation and UNIJAPAN. It allows you to look up information on Japanese films based on title, cast and crew, or distributor/production company.
