Professional Development and Networking Initiative for Film Programmers and Curators from ASEAN and Japan

This program focuses on the exchange of professionals involved in film curation and programming. It is part of the comprehensive project “Partnership to Co-create a Future with the Next Generation: WA Project 2.0,” which aims to foster exchange and human resource development among the next generation in Japan and ASEAN countries.

The program consists of two phases. In the first phase, emerging film professionals involved in film programming and exhibition in Southeast Asia and Japan will gather in Tokyo. Through workshops focused on creating curated programs of Japanese cinema, they will build networks with film professionals from Japan and other countries, while also deepening their knowledge and understanding of Japanese cinema.

In the second phase, participants from Southeast Asia will utilize what they learned in Tokyo to organize Japanese film screenings in their home countries and regions, with support from the Japanese participants.

Through this initiative, we aim to foster a strong network of film professionals in Southeast Asia and Japan, and to create opportunities for a wide range of screenings to take place in both regions.
