In addition to showcasing the Asian films screening at this edition of TIFF, the booklet looks back on six years of the CROSSCUT ASIA section presented jointly by the Japan Foundation Asia Center and the festival since 2014. Starting from 2014, the Japan Foundation Asia Center and Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) present the showcase of Asian films “CROSSCUT ASIA.” The special booklet made for the first showcase “Thai Fascination,” which was focused on Thai films, contains an essay by Mitsuyo Kakuta (the author of the novel which was adapted into the film Pale Moon), a special interview with Tadanobu Asano, a conversation with award-winning director Apichatpong Weerasethakul and TIFF Programming Director Kenji Ishizaka, and others.
