Sharing Information

In order for effective international exchange in the field of publication, the Japan Foundation provides a database of Japanese literary works translated into foreign languages.

The Japan Foundation has promoted network in the field of translation and publication by creating interactive collaboration between specialists. We have organized various programs such as dispatching of Japanese authors overseas, inviting foreign translators and editors of Japanese literature, and conducting roundtables as well as symposiums. In addition, the Japan Foundation has also organized a series of online events.

An online portal of the Japan Foundation, Bookmark_JF is the place to find out about our Support Program for Translation and Publication, access our Literary Database, and learn about the other ways in which we unite readers, authors, translators and publishers, fostering a deeper understanding of Japan through literary works in translation.

This is a database of Japanese literary works translated into foreign languages.

Translator Spotlight, presented by the Japan Foundation, interviews translators from around the world about their work bringing Japanese literature to other languages.

As part of the follow-up to its Support Program for Translation and Publication, the Japan Foundation interviewed six publishers from among those that have translated and published Japanese books overseas under the Program.

Between 1993 and 2016, this newsletter provided overseas publishing companies, editors, and translators access to the latest information on publishing trends and new publications in Japan.
