Small Exhibition “From Our Rare Book Collection” (December 2019)

This month we are displaying Narrative of a voyage to the Pacific and Beering's Strait, to co-operate with the Polar expeditions : performed in His Majesty's ship Blossom, under the command of Captain F. W. Beechey, in the years 1825, 26, 27, 28, published in London in 1831.

Author Frederick William Beechey (1796-1856) undertook observation surveys of the Pacific Ocean and the Bering Strait from 1825 to 1828 as captain of the Royal Navy HMS Blossom. This book is an account of that three-year voyage.
