The Japan Pavilion at the Venice Biennale: International Art Exhibition

This series introduces artists featured at the Japan Pavilion of the Venice Biennale: International Art Exhibition, for which the Japan Foundation serves as commissioner.

Held every two years, the Venice Biennale attracts worldwide attention as a showcase for the latest developments in contemporary art. Designed by Takamasa Yoshizaka and completed in 1958, the Japan Pavilion serves as the venue for exhibitions by artists representing Japan.

The Japan Pavilion at the Venice Biennale: International Architecture Exhibition

This series introduces exhibitions presented at the Japan Pavilion of the Venice Biennale: International Architecture Exhibition, for which the Japan Foundation serves as commissioner.

The Venice Biennale: International Architecture Exhibition began in 1980 and, since 2000, has been held in alternate years with the International Art Exhibition. The Japan Pavilion has officially participated in the exhibition since 1991.
