The World of Kokeshi Dolls
This exhibition provides a comprehensive introduction to the various styles and production methods of kokeshi, Japan’s representative folk dolls.
Included in the exhibition are three general types of kokeshi: the traditional dolls made chiefly in the Tohoku region which continue to be made using traditional techniques; the “creative kokeshi” produced according to each artist's unique conception; and the wooden kokeshi toys that children like to play with.
This exhibition introduces 70 to 85 works.
This exhibition was finished.
