Concerts and a Workshop by Anime Music Artists to be Held in Egypt!
MYTH & ROID, sajou no hana, and MAESHIMA Mayu to Perform in Africa for the First Time Ever
The Japan Foundation (JF) will organize anime song concerts, a workshop, and social events for local Japanese-language learners in Egypt to serve as bridges for cultural exchange between Japan and Egypt.
In Africa and the Middle East, interest in Japanese pop culture such as anime and manga has been increasing rapidly in recent years, accompanied by a further burgeoning of interest in Japanese culture.
It is against this backdrop that the artists MYTH & ROID, sajou no hana, and MAESHIMA Mayu, who have been in the spotlight for their theme songs to hit anime, will be dispatched to Cairo and Alexandria to give their first-ever live performances in Africa.
The concerts in Alexandria will also feature three Egyptian artists, bringing together diverse performances in a festival-like format. The two days of joint performances will infuse fresh energy into cultural exchange between Japan and Egypt.
In addition to the concerts in two cities, a workshop by Japanese musician and composer Tom-H@ck for local musicians and social events for Japanese-language learners will also be held to deepen mutual understanding and goodwill through close exchanges with local people.
The concerts are aimed at promoting understanding of Japan through anime culture and are also expected to spread interest in Japanese culture among new and younger generations through the transnational artistic medium of anime music.
