“Refugees in Lithuania and Chiune Sugihara in 1939-1940” Research in Progress by 2016-17 the Japan Foundation Fellows

Please join us on Monday, October 24, 2016 at the Japan Foundation Headquarters for the presentation and discussion from one of our 2016-2017 Japan Foundation Fellow on the subject of “Refugees in Lithuania and Chiune Sugihara in 1939-1940.” In this session, Dr. Simonas Strelcovas (Associate Professor, Department of History and Philosophy, Šiauliai University) will be talking about his resarch on Chiune Sugihara who is known as "a courageous diplomat of humanity” by saving the lives of thousands during his tenure as Vice-Consul at the Japanese Consulate in Kaunas, Lithuania, and Chiharu Inaba (Department of Urban Science, Meijo University) will come in as a facilitator.
