Support for Japanese Studies Researchers

Through support for research activities conducted by overseas Japanese studies researchers, JF aims to promote Japanese studies from the perspective of fostering the next generation of researchers.

Japan Foundation Japanese Studies Fellowship Program

In order to promote Japanese studies overseas, this program provides scholars and researchers in the field of Japanese studies with opportunities to conduct research in Japan.

JF-JSA-ASEAN Fellowship Program

In order to develop the next generation of human resources and thus building a strong and long-lasting relationship of trust between Southeast Asia and Japan, this program, with the support of the Japanese Studies Association of Southeast Asia (JSA-ASEAN), provides opportunities to do research and engage in exchange activities in Japan for researchers in the field of Japanese studies from Southeast Asia.

Fellowships Co-organized with Other Institutions in Japan

The following three Fellowship programs, jointly organized by JF and other institutions in Japan that advocate the globalization of Japanese studies, are designed to provide overseas Ph.D. candidates or post-doctoral researchers with opportunities to conduct research and networking activities in Japan.   • JF-CIJS-EAJS Fellowship Program
    (co-organized with the Center for Integrated Japanese Studies, Tohoku University)
    * Ph.D. candidates at graduate schools in Europe are eligible to apply.
