On Friday, October 13, 2023, the “Japan Foundation (JF) Japanese Studies Fellow Conference” was held in Kyoto jointly with the International Research Center for Japanese Studies (Nichibunken). The conference was held on the afternoon of the first day as the second part of the two-day international symposium organized by Nichibunken, and presentations were made under the theme of "Exploring a New Frontier: Global Japanese Studies Today" by some JF Fellows currently engaged in research activities in Japan. In addition, through networking events held within Nichibunken, JF provided a new opportunity for interaction among over 100 participants, including faculty members hosting JF Fellows as well as researchers at Nichibunken. Among the survey responses were: "Although my research is in Japanese literature, I was able to connect with the world"; "It was inspiring to see so much valuable research presented"; "I am very grateful to have met the other Fellows"; and "It is a real pleasure to be part of the JF family." These are just a few of the comments that indicate that the conference provided both a platform for stimulating research presentation and an opportunity for fruitful networking.
