My heartfelt congratulations on the 50th anniversary of the Japan Foundation Awards.

The Faculty of Japanese Language and Culture at the University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, received the Japan Foundation Award in 2021 together with the Faculty of Japanese, Foreign Trade University, and the Department of Japanese Studies, Hanoi University, as three organizations working together. We were the first Vietnamese representatives to receive this award, and we believe that receiving such a prestigious award was an expression of encouragement for our past activities and expectation for our future, and we consider it a great honor. We took this award as an encouragement, and will continue to value exchange activities among people, and strive for stronger exchange between students in Japan and Vietnam, and therefore between the people of both our countries, to achieve mutual understanding, international friendship, and goodwill. We believe this is our duty as a recipient of the Japan Foundation Award, and that it will lead to the creation of the peaceful world toward which we hope to walk together.

To deepen the friendship between Japan and Vietnam, it is vital that we increase the number of fans of each country as much as possible. For a long time, the Foreign Trade University has worked hard on a daily basis to create fans of Japan among the people of Vietnam by teaching Vietnamese university students about Japanese language, culture, and Japanese-style management. We are sincerely grateful to the Japan Foundation for presenting us with a prestigious award that acknowledges such contributions. We hope that, encouraged by the award, we can devote ourselves to creating more fans of Japan than ever before.

In 2021, the Department of Japanese Studies, Hanoi University, was jointly awarded the Japan Foundation Award together with the Faculty of Japanese Language and Culture of the University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, and the Faculty of Japanese of the Foreign Trade University, making us the first recipients of the award in Vietnam. I can still clearly remember my excitement from that time today. For me, it was one of the happiest moments of my life. I recognize that receiving the award was an expression of warm encouragement and everyone’s expectations. In the future, we will engage in further studies, continue to devote ourselves to Japanese-language education, and hope to focus on developing the friendship between Japan and Vietnam by fostering excellent human resources who speak Japanese.
