The Invitation Program for Professionals in Performing Arts 2025 Inviting Music Festival Producers and Programmers from Eight Countries

The Japan Foundation and the CUEW Executive Committee (KOKICIK LLC/SHIN Co., Ltd.) will collaborate with the SOUL BEAT ASIA 2025 Executive Committee to invite to Japan eight music professionals (festival producers, directors, and programmers) who support music festivals around the world. They will participate in both the SOUL BEAT ASIA 2025 to be held in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture, and the CUEW Showcase & Conference Tokyo 2025 Summer music event to be held in Shibuya, Tokyo.

This showcase and conference event is a new initiative organized by the JF and the CUEW Executive Committee. It is a rare showcase event in Tokyo focused on indie and world music. The event will provide a platform for Japanese artists to go out onto the world stage.

Dewi Gontha (Indonesia)

JAVA JAZZ Festival Director

A prominent producer in the Indonesian music industry. Serves as the President and Director of PT. Java Festival Production. Involved in the launch of the Jakarta International Jazz Festival that was held in Jakarta in 2005. Has continued to lead the planning and operation of the festival since then. This festival is known as one of the largest jazz festivals in the Southern Hemisphere. It books many renowned artists from home and abroad every year. In addition, is also active as the curator for Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN). This is an event that aims to promote local tourism and revitalize the creative economy in cooperation with Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

Sarun Rinyarat (Thailand)

Maho Rasop Festival / Bangkok Music City CEO / Founder

Founded music startup Fungjai in 2014 to form a community to connect indie artists and fans. Since 2018, he has planned the Maho Rasop independent festival. He has invited well-known bands to play at the event, such as AIR and Interpol. In 2019, he launched the Bangkok Music City music conference and showcase. In 2024, a total of over 60 acts performed at the event, consisting of 40 local acts and 20 international acts. The event was a huge success. It attracted approximately 10,000 visitors and over 200 international delegates and speakers over two days.

Kaushik Dutta (India)

MusiConnect ASIA Founder / President

Involved in music for over 30 years as a researcher, performer, and composer. Works on music production for Bollywood movies, plays, and dance theater. Also participates in and produces international collaborative projects around the world. Has served as a visiting lecturer at the Roundhouse in London and the Singapore Music Academy. Has also participated in a jazz masterclass series co-organized by the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Canada, and the Manhattan School of Music in the U.S. In addition, is active in promoting the Asian music industry on the global stage. Serves as the Founder and Chairman of MusiConnect Asia, the Vice President of Global Music Market Network(South Korea), and the Founder and Director of MusiConnect India. Over the past five years, has launched two large-scale music markets: the Asia Music Summit and Soundscapes of India. Has passionately explored new forms of collaboration by connecting people around the world over many years.

Hayley Percy (Australia)

RISING Festival Head of Music

A music industry professional based in Melbourne, Australia. Has extensive experience in event management, ticket sales, and music programming. Currently, serves as the Head of the Music for RISING Festival and oversees its music program. In addition, is building relationships and collaborating with a variety of venues, promoters, and booking agencies as Senior Manager and Regional Manager at Australia’s largest independent ticketing company, Oztix. Furthermore, demonstrates leadership in a wide range of fields in the music and creative industries including serving as Executive Producer of the art-based game Blaktasia and the Representative Director and Chair of Schoolhouse Studios.

Vincent Lasserre (France)

Rio Loco Festival Music Programmer

Has been involved in music event planning for over 15 years in Toulouse. Serves as the Co-programmer at the contemporary music base Le Metronum. Le Metronum obtained the SMAC label* in 2024. Le Metronum curates an annual music season and runs projects celebrating female creativity through the Women Metronum Academy. It contributes to the cultural development of Toulouse by promoting diversity and inclusion and supporting local artists through the management of cultural projects and music programming. *SMAC: This is an official certification system awarded by the French Ministry of Culture. The label is given mainly to facilities that support young artists and local music scenes to promote diversity in the music industry and the development of local culture.

Filip Košťálek (Czech Republic)

Colours of Ostrava Creative Manager / Music Programmer

An experienced artistic director and cultural producer who has been active for over 10 years in the international music and festival industry. In particular, has curated the main lineup for the large-scale Colours of Ostrava festival held in the Czech Republic to bring global talent transcending genres and cultural barriers to a wide audience. Received the European Festival Award. Selected as one of IQ Magazine’s “New Bosses” and one of Forbes “30 Under 30.” Currently, oversees the four-day Colours of Ostrava event (8 music stages + 7 discussion stages with a venue capacity of over 50,000) as Creative Manager and Programmer. Also proactively involved in urban and international music events including Festival in the Streets – Art & Life and Czech Music Crossroads.

Balázs Weyer (Hungary)

Budapest Ritmo Programing Director

Director of the Hungarian world music production company Hangveto and Ethnomusicologist. Has served as the curator of several music festivals, including Budapest Ritmo held in Budapest, and has represented the Hungarian city of Veszprém in the UNESCO Cities of Music program. Furthermore, serves as the Chairman of Music Hungary, a music industry association in Hungary, and is also involved as a consultant in cultural development projects relating to the European Capital of Culture and the UNESCO Cities of Music program. Regularly plans and organizes music-related events for the general public. Also produces radio programs and music podcasts. Has also been invited to give lectures at numerous international conferences around the world.

Neveen Kenawy (Egypt)

Has promoted cultural exchanges between local and international institutions as the founder of the She Arts Festival held in Egypt, which shines a spotlight on female artists. Has managed the entire event program at the Alexandria Library and also played a central role in the Cairo International Jazz Festival in the past. Selected for the U.S. Recording Academy’s Mentor Program. Became the first Arab woman to serve as the performer selector at the Jazzahead! showcase festival in Germany. Her initiatives have had a positive impact on the careers of young female artists and contributed to the sustainable growth of Egypt’s cultural industry.
