On December 10, 2022, "The Japan Foundation Fellow Conference" was held at the International Research Center for Japanese Studies (Nichibunken), by JF and Nichibunken, in cooperation with the Consortium for Global Japanese Studies (CGJS) as co-organizer. Nearly 90 people, including JF Fellows, their advisors, and members of Nichibunken and CGJS, attended. In the group sessions, the participants were divided into five groups according to their research theme. In each group, Nichibunken professors kindly took a role as moderators, and some JF Fellows gave brief introductions of their research as an icebreaker, followed by free discussions. At the following plenary session, three guest speakers gave a talk on the stage on the topic of "Career Development of Japanese Studies Scholars.” Among the post-survey responses were “I felt the circle of people connected across generations and regions," "It was a very meaningful time when many scholars made comments and remarks from the angle of their own culture and their own research themes, and everyone interacted with one another.” After the Covid-19 pandemic, this event provided an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of networking among people.
