The 61st International Speech Contest in Japanese

<Notice of Cancellation of the 61st contest>
We regret to inform you that we have decided to cancel the 61st contest in Fukuyama City in order to protect against the spread of novel corona virus (COVID-19).
We apologize to those who have considered applying for the contest, but your kind understanding would be highly appreciated.

The Japan Foundation hosts the 61st International Speech Contest in Japanese in cooperation with the International Education Center and Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture (outline described below).

This contest is open to all eligible persons, and admission is free for both participants and audiences.
*Participants must meet the qualifications below.

We hope many of those who study Japanese participate in this contest and show us what you feel and think about Japan.
We are looking forward to your participation!

(NHK Educational may focus on some of the participants of this contest for their documentary program.)

Venue Fukuyama Hall of Art & Culture -Reed & Rose- Access
Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture
Qualifications Applicants must fulfill all of the following conditions:
1) Non-Japanese native speaker
2) 15 years of age or older at the day of the contest
3) Those who have never won the Foreign Minister’s Award, nor the Education Minister’s Award in the past
