Essay Project “Japanese Literature in the World Today”

JFでは世界各地から日本文学への想いを綴ったエッセイをお寄せいただきました。対象としたのは文学研究者だけでなく、翻訳家、出版社の編集担当、さらには書店員などさまざまです。彼らは日本文学とどうやって出会い、どこに惹きつけられたのか、多彩なエピソードをどうぞお楽しみください。

The Japan Foundation invited essays from around the world describing people's thoughts on Japanese literature. The essays were written not only by scholars of literature, but also by translators, editors of publishing houses, and booksellers. We hope you will enjoy the diverse stories of how they encountered Japanese literature and what attracted them to it.
