The Japan Foundation (JF) conducts the International Creations in Performing Arts program, which supports international collaborative creations between artists based in Japan and overseas.
This program aims to promote opportunities for discussion and exchange among artists with different values and sensibilities, while broadly sharing the creative process with the general public. By emphasizing the creative process, we hope to elevate the importance of exchange and collaboration within the overall project, thereby strengthening networks among performing arts professionals and fostering human resource development.

Therefore, this program sends process observers who is not directly involved with the project to monitor and record the process of production. Observers record the creative process through interviews with participants and by observing rehearsals, ultimately compiling these observations into reports that are published on the Japan Foundation’s website.

In addition, premier performances created through the International Creations in Performing Arts program are streamed online on the Japan Foundation’s YouTube channel “STAGE BEYOND BORDERS.”
