Our food system is at stake. Climate change comes with threatening challenges: natural disasters seem to be increasing, biodiversity is endangered, food globalization is progressing, and world population now exceeds eight billion people. While the environment is further put at risk, the vulnerabilities of the global food supply increase. How can our societies and local food cultures contribute to a food system that is sustainable in terms of environmental protection and at the same time resilient in terms of food production and nutrition?
This Japanese-German symposium welcomes both experts from academia and those with hands-on experience to share their insights with the audience and invites a lively exchange between the two nations on global food issues with local perspectives.
