The Japan Foundation Indo-Pacific Partnership (JFIPP) Network Fellowship
Objectives and Overview of JFIPP Network Fellowship
<Applications for the 2nd cohort are now closed>
The JFIPP Network Fellowship provides research and networking opportunities for next generation leaders in the Indo-Pacific region who will help shape policy to resolve regional concerns. The program seeks to promote regional dialogue and cooperation on shared issues by providing opportunities to build long-lasting relationships and new platforms for intellectual cooperation.
The program builds cohorts of approximately 15 early to mid-career specialists around important Indo-Pacific regional issues. Each cohort will take part in weeklong in-person programs three times over the course of a year in different parts of the Indo-Pacific region. During these programs, fellows will deepen their understanding of the thematic issue by meeting with experts and policymakers in the field and taking part in site visits. Between the in-person programming, fellows will also carry out research, either individually or in small groups, and meet online to discuss and exchange opinions. Each cohort will develop culminating output(s), for example, research papers, public symposium, etc. Through this process, fellows form cooperative relationships and create networks to help resolve regional concerns.
Currently, we are organizing cohorts and conducting programs on the following two themes: “Disaster Resilience” and “Climate Change and Adaptation”.
