Ms. Linghong Chen won the 20th Japan Comparative Literature Association Prize for her publication Nicchu Engeki Koryu no Shoso: Chugoku Kindai Engeki no Seiritsu [Various aspects of the theatrical exchange between Japan and China: Establishment of modern theatrical play in China] (Shibunkaku Shuppan, 2014). She studied the theatrical exchange mainly between Japan and China during her master's program at the Beijing Center for Japanese Studies and after graduation she went on working as a researcher specialized in the history of modern theatrical exchange between Japan and China.

Ms. Linghong Chen was a master's program student at the Beijing Center for Japanese Studies from 2001 to 2004. Between March and September in 2003, she was invited to Japan by the Japan Foundation to do research activities, mainly writing master's thesis, at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, University of Tokyo. After she graduated from the Center, she started working at the Faculty of Foreign Language of Ningbo University, then came to Japan as a Japanese government-sponsored foreign student (and received a Ph.D. from School of Cultural and Social Studies, The Graduate University for Advanced Studies), and became a GCOE researcher of Tsubouchi Memorial Theatre Museum of Waseda University. She currently works as a full-time lecturer at the Department of Japanese, East China Normal University.
